PTE Academic Test Structure Overview
The PTE Academic test is structured into four main sections, distributed across three parts. These essential sections are:
- Listening
- Speaking
- Writing
- Reading
All parts of the test (Speaking, Writing, and Reading) are evaluated through a computer system, while the Listening test includes recording the applicant’s voice to ensure accuracy and error-free assessment.
Detailed Test Structure
Reading Section:
- Consists of objective questions such as multiple-choice, fill in the blanks, and reading and rewriting paragraphs.
- Time Duration: 30-40 minutes.
Listening Section:
- Involves both objective and subjective questions, including multiple-choice, fill in the blanks, identifying missing words, highlighting correct paragraphs, and correcting wrongly framed sentences.
- You will also submit a synopsis of spoken content and write down dictations.
- Time Duration: 45-57 minutes.
Speaking & Writing Section:
Part One:
- Focuses on evaluating the candidate’s speaking and writing abilities.
- Begins with an introduction where you can freely talk about yourself. Although this part is not scored, it provides useful information about your personality for the chosen universities and institutions.
Part Two:
Involves responding to an audio clip. You will speak into a microphone, describing pictures, repeating sentences and lectures, summarizing written texts, writing essays on given topics, and answering brief questions.
